Cupcake Pops!

Welcome to the wonderful world of cake pops!  I had to rush the decorating of them a bit, but you get the idea!

Elmo and Cookie Monster!

I recently had the pleasure of making some cupcakes for the 2nd birthday of our friend's daughter.  She is a fan of Sesame Street so I made her some Elmo cupcakes:

Of course, nothing goes along with Elmo better than his good friend Cookie Monster.  These cupcakes will certainly turn your mouth blue, but I think it is totally worth it!

Grad school is seriously impeding on my crafting...

So grad school has put a damper in my crafting recently and I am none too happy about it. That being said, I have started making my own clothes recently as they take less time and energy than my quilts do. I have made 5 skirts so far and just made my first dress. I'll post some pictures soon, but I thought I would include some links to some great free patterns I found online. Enjoy!

Some more recent cakes

Here are some more recent cakes that I made:

This cake was for Larry's birthday this year. It's the Paladin symbol from World of Warcraft.

These are some cupcakes with fondant crabs on top of them.

Here is another birthday cake that I made. It's a chocolate cake with buttercream icing. The dogs and toys are made from fondant.

Previous Projects

I realize that before anyone in the blogosphere would be able to take me seriously as a baker or crafter, I would need to prove my skill. Here are photos of some of the cakes I have made in the last year or so.

I made this one for the Fourth of July. It's red velvet and white cake covered in buttercream.

This castle cake was made for a friend's daughter's birthday. Although it didn't turn out exactly as I had planned, it could have been worse I suppose. The cakes are yellow, chocolate, and strawberry and the frog and girl are made from fondant. The battlements are vanilla wafers cut and covered in tinted white chocolate.

This hibiscus cake is a strawberry cake iced with buttercream.

This lego-man cake was made for my husband's birthday. It is chocolate cake with buttercream icing and the legos are made from fondant.

This ladybug cake was a 1st birthday smash cake for a friend's daughter. It's a strawberry cake iced in buttercream. The head is a brownie with fondant eyes.

This picnic cake was for a baking competition for our church picnic. The bottom is yellow cake iced in buttercream. The top is chocolate cake covered in fondant. All the picnic foods and such are made from fondant as well.

This Mario Brothers cake was made for a friends birthday. It's all done with buttercream icing. The pipe and mushroom on top are sugar cookies covered in buttercream.

Welcome

Welcome! This blog is pretty much a virtual photo album for my various baking and quilting projects.  I am currently a grad student in Maryland and make desserts and quilts as a side business.  If you are interested in a special dessert or quilt, please feel free to contact me for pricing info.
